Ok. So it seems that we want to secure the housing deal soon.
Here is the deal with my friend's place. He is more than glad to host all of us at his place. He lives on a two bedroom condo on Brickell Drive right in front of the ocean, which is pretty close to South Beach and Downtown Miami.

It would easy for us to mobilize from there, except to the Dolphin Stadium in the odd case that Kofi comes through with reasonably priced tickets.
The Challenge:
This dude is doing research in opthalmology and applying for residency positions, so he is not sure if he will be in town during that weekend. I could get his keys, except that there are condo rules that prohibit him from having people over when he is not there.
It is most likely that he will be in town, but it is not a 100% guarantee. So there you go.
The Proposal:
Big Fundamentals and I were talking today about it, and believe it would be a good idea to reserve a place around that area, as a back-up plan. There are a ton of hotels nearby.

Maybe we could get a crappy hotel in the South beach area for five days, and then just keep it for one night to go out around the area...
Pompano Beach is beyond Fort-Lauderdale and I think it would be crappy, especially with regards to transportation. We would be removed from the city and then what would be the point of flying all the way to Miami?
Summary:
Most likely, we will have a two bedroom condo on Downtown Miami to crash, but it is not guaranteed. We should look for back-up places around the area and then use it for one night, once the condo is confirmed.
Mad Scientist, why don't you start looking for a cheap place around Downtown Miami or South Beach?

Here is a possible scenario. We make hotel reservations for 4 nights. As the date approaches, we find out that we can stay with Jose's friend. We cancel 3 nights of the hotel and keep it for 1 so that we are not charged any fees. This depends are the terms of service and cancellation policy, but it has worked for me in the past. It's a possibility, an insurance policy at the least.
